I adopted Sam at four when his owner died. He spent the last six summers with me in Antibes, France where I’ve lived for twenty-five years. The ancient cobblestones were fragrant with 2600 years of seasoning and he sniffed his heart out until we flew back for winters in sunny Boulder, Colorado. Here, we walked most mornings to feed dried corn kernels to the ducks on Boulder Creek, by the library. I’m so missing this little Maltese guy. And am so thankful for our calm and peaceful goodbye, facilitated by Dr. Tricia Miller. He had contracted lympho sarcoma.
